All 22 fighters on this past Saturday’s UFC 174 card received mandatory minimum medical suspensions, but three of them will be saddled with lengthy terms.
MMAjunkie on Monday received the complete list of suspensions from the British Columbia Athletic Commission, which supervised the card.
Ryan Jimmo suffered a broken arm in the opening bout of Saturday’s pay-per-view, and he will be shut down for 180 days. Additionally, he’ll need to be cleared by an orthopedic surgeon before his return thanks to the broken right forearm against Ovince Saint Preux.
On the preliminary card, Tae Hyun Bang banged it out with Kajan Johnson before earning a third-round knockout win. Bang has an indefinite suspension with no contact for 180 days, and he’ll need an X-ray of his nose and doctor clearance before he can return. Johnson was given a 60-day suspension with no contact for 45 days due to the knockout.
Valerie Letourneau picked up a win over Elizabeth Phillips, but looked worse for the wear afterward. She’ll be shut down for 180 days with no contact for 30 days and will need clearance of a possibly fractured left orbital before she can return.
On the main card, Brendan Schaub looked worse than any other fighter at the event after his bout, a split-decision loss to Andrei Arlovski. He’ll be out for 90 days with no contact for 60 days. He’ll also need to be cleared by a doctor before returning to training after a CT scan of his head and cuts on his left eyelid and right side of his face.
In the main event of UFC 174, which took place at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Demetrious Johnson defended his flyweight title with a five-round unanimous decision win over Ali Bagautinov. Johnson received the mandatory two-week shutdown, while Bagautinov is on the shelf for 30 days.
Aside from the mandatory minimum suspensions of 14 days, the following fighters were given longer terms after UFC 174:
- Ali Bagautinov: Suspended 30 days with no contact for 30 days.
- Rory MacDonald: 14-day mandatory suspension; additionally, must follow up with general practitioner before returning.
- Andrei Arlovski: Suspended 30 days with no contact for 14 days.
- Brendan Schaub: Suspended 90 days with no contact for 60 days due to left eyelid laceration and suture on right side of face. Additionally, must have CT scan of head and a doctor’s clearance before returning to training or competition.
- Ryan Jimmo: Suspended 180 days with no contact for 180 days due to fractured right forearm. Additionally, must be cleared by orthopedic surgeon before returning.
- Daniel Sarafian: 14-day mandatory suspension; additionally, must follow up with regular physician before returning.
- Valerie Letourneau: Suspended 180 days with no contact for 30 days. Additionally, must have left orbital cleared by doctor before returning.
- Mike Easton: 14-day mandatory suspension; additionally, must have left thumb assessed by doctor before returning to training.
- Tae Hyun Bang: Suspended indefinitely with no contact for 180 days. Must have nose cleared by doctor before returning to training or competition.
- Kajan Johnson: Suspended 60 days with no contact for 45 days due to knockout loss. Additionally, must follow up with general practitioner before returning to training.
- Roland Delorme: Suspended 30 days with no contact for 21 days.
